here's a pic of the beautiful view waiting us in the car park of the hotel- love that rain!

then after all that happened before (see below posts) we ended up in Birmingham doing a gig for the show I'm lighting called Shades of Brown- then straight out of Birmingham city centre in ten minutes (thank you TOM TOM!) to Alton Towers and our hotel which had a rather distinct statue at the entrance.

quick sort out of the room, 9 holes on the crazy golf and we went for some food. Now you might think £18.95 might be a bit steep for an all-you-can-eat buffet but wait until you hear what we ate.
steak burger
turkey roast dinner x 2
steaks and mustard
spare ribs (plate of)
chicken salad
salmon platter x 2
chicken wings
roast chicken & stuffing
corn and the cob
marshmallows and chocolate (from a chocolate fountain)
strawberries
grapes
Carte D'or Ice cream
and a pint and a half of Stella...
now that's cheap at half the price and I'm sure I've forgotten something!
though we ate so much we both had to go and sit on the naughty chair

anyway next day we checked out and headed out early for the theme park- one good thing about staying at the hotel (apart from the unwashed bathroom) is that you get into the park an hour earlier leading to NO waiting times!

which meant after a HUGE breakfast we endured Rita Queen of Speed three times in a row!
nearly met breakfast again I tell you!
one great thing at Alton Towers is that whilst queuing (not long, most was 30 mins) for a ride you get to see what exactly it does like this clip of Oblivion 5 mins from getting on.
and this one of Nemesis!
all leads to some serious second thoughts but no backing down!
all in all we had a brilliant day, I loved Hex and Air and Sarah swallowed her heart nearly going onto Oblivion but she managed and with her head held high!
a 4.5 hour journey later and we're home, tired and wondering why we've got a Tigger with us?
(I won it for Sarah at the Towers!)
we had a brilliant end to our holiday and Sarah's been at work all day so I;ve got to go and prepare tea now! I've been off all day and I've got tomorrow off too!
one thing about Manchester is it's shopping, even though we didn't have any reason to shop, Sarah came home with two new pairs of shoes and I've got a new G- Star Raw jacket!
love that shopping thing...

right now time to catch up with what everyone has been doing the last week!

I remember the rain in Manchester well enough but what a great time you had. And that food!
