About 3 nights ago the dimmer switch on the wall ( which controls the main lights in our living room) started smoking so I isolated the lighting downstairs and went to bed.

Next day I rang the landlord's mobile and left a message letting him know we have no lighting downstairs - which is where the kitchen and living room and dining room are ...

no reply ...

next day ring letting agents for home number and ring that - leave a message ...

5 mins after leaving message I get a reply from their daughter - they are in Borneo until 11th October!

I was trying to be all correct and proper but I thought fuck it I'll do it myself. £19 switch from B & Q and it took 1 minute.

I have got C & G's Electrical Installation Part 1 so I really should know what I'm doing- I just didn't want to interfere with the fittings in a rented flat. Until needs must.

When the landlord gets back I'll tax him for the money and all will be well ...

I'm off today as I'm working Sunday all day as an emergency cover for sickness so I need some time off this week :)

I've bought lots of fruit and stuff for my long shifts so I can keep my energy up for the next 3 twelve hour days :)
